Product Details

Seiko introduced their first alarm watch, the Bell-Matic in 1966. It quickly earned reverence as an exciting Seiko piece because it's a fully automatic alarm watch that hosts four different functions from one crown.

The alarm itself sounds from a small, spring-powered hammer that repeatedly strikes a curved metal spring. When activated, the alarm rings for approximately 10 seconds.

But the most special feature of the Bell-Matic lies within the multi-function crown, which is used to set the time, day and alarm, as well as wind the alarm power. This is all made possible by the automatic winding capability of the Bell-Matic, which therefor frees up the crown to perform all four functions.

Like all Seiko watches, this is a meticulously designed and beautifully made watch with a stout cushion-style case, inky blue dial, and rotating inner bezel with a bright red to indicate the time at which the alarm was set. It's a fun piece that can be dressed up or down, and makes for a great conversation piece no matter where you take it.

The caseback exhibits all original factory engravings, which are still in crisp, legible condition. It comes supplied on a two-piece leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The deep blue dial is exceptionally well preserved showing no notable damage and only the faintest signs of age. The lume plots have aged to the slightest cream color and are fully intact, including the triangle alarm indicator, revealing no signs of degradation under UV inspection.
